The Garden Shed proudly supports Hydro for Hunger, which is a foundation created by the Institute of Simplified Hydroponics in the fight against world hunger.

After returning from a trip to Haiti with a volunter medical team my brother hung a flag in the basement that reads:

"While Hunger Rules, Peace Cannot  Prevail"

It is of necessity to peace, love and the pursuit of happiness that we find a way to feed the world.

"When compared to conventional soil gardening methods, hydroponics can produce up to six times the food with five percent of the water in less then one third of the space." - Hydro for Hunger

Hunger is one of the cruellest sufferings. We will find a way to feed the world and you can help by making a donation here.

Monthly Treat

This is a great dip for any occasion, but we eat it regularly with any cracker or bread before the BBQ.

Hummus                                       ~ 5 min prep time   ~ 10 min total time

19oz Can of Chick Peas                                1/2 lemon for juice
1 Clove of Garlic, minced                              2 Tbsp tahini (sesame butter)
1 Tbsp Olive Oil

Drain the chick peas keeping the liquid for thinning the hummus to desired consistency. We go for a little more liquid then peanut butter but easily stays on the cracker. Process all ingredients in a food processor or blender until smooth. Add the saved liquid to desired consistency.

  1. Place in a bowl and serve with pita bread, crackers, or toast any day old bread in the oven on a cookie sheet, sprinkled with olive oil and parsley. Cook at 450f until crispy brown.
  2. Garnish with the fresh parsley and serve
